toasting 2010 with a..ermmm... shoe?

So! me and Vicky have got just under two hours left on the shop floor, just opened a lovely bottle of pink bubbly given to us by the wonderful Michaela at Lady Double You which reminded Vicky of this, kinda odd, collaboration from Christian Louboutin and Piper Heidsieck. The heel of the glass reminds me of my dream NYE McQueen crystal boot from yesterdays post. This crystal drinking shoe is reviving the nineteenth century Parisian tradition of drinking Champagne out of a ladies shoe, which is just so debauched and bananas i'm thinking I may try it tonight myself (cue getting slung out of the club at ten to midnight...) Anyhoo, if you've got higher or indeed any respect plus £350 to blow on a fancy flute, I advise you get thee to Selfridges and try it out yourself.

dream NYE shoes

I love NYE, I always have the best time, it always seems fitting to go a little banana's on the ol' outfit, a bit more decedent shall we say, if I found a gold bullion in the street (not likely on the streets of Hackney, maybe i'll have more luck near the boutique in Angel, Islington) I would scour ebay for these beauties past and present. Looking at my top pics all together, the lime Dior boots from A/W 08 look a little out of place, but I have wanted them FOREVER, plus, and they would be sooooo fun to dance in...!

from top to bottom, Alexander McQueen A/W 08, Charlotte Olympia, Christian Dior A/W 08, Chanel, Laura J London, Louise Goldin for Topshop.

There was never a genius without a tincture of madness.

He was a clever one that Aristotle fella, a notion I completely agree with and perhaps shared by a certain Daphne Guinness when she wore these absolutely bonkers pair of shoes by Alexander McQueen

Daphne's strong personal style should be applauded, she is a living walking piece of art and to see her in real life must be a real spectacle, I love how she has pushed the look to the max with alien contacts to match, at least I think she has, they can't be her own eyeballs surely?!?! If only everyone had her extravagant taste (not to mention bank account and contacts) what an amazingly colourful and exciting world it would be.

pantomime pammy...

blame it on my obsession on and over-excitment for tomorrows 'Strictly Come Dancing' final, (team hobbit incase you're wondering...!) I saw this image and fell in love with Pamala Anderson, those shoes are to die for, and that Philip Tracey Lip hat... AMAZINGGG! I'm sure Les Dawson was never as glamourous a dame when I went to Panto as a kid.

recession? what recession?

we've decorated the inside of the boutique with paper chains made from The Financial Times, i've always thought the pink papers were far too pretty to be used for something as boring and corporate as finance, even their website is a pretty peach shade!

the sequin bow shoes shown here are from our pop - up concession with the lovely Lady Double - You which one of us will definitely blog about soon, as her shoes are beautiful and I think we are looking to do an AMAZING competition with them soon...

the cone heeled 'henrietta' ankle boot is our own brand and has ostrich skin on the heel, they're really cool and have just gone in the SALE, yes that's SALE, down from £205 to £145...fer-lippin' bargain this early on.

The Factory

Once, when I was a young, enthusiastic fashion intern, I accompanied the Fashion Editor on a shoot to photograph working factory’s. I know that sounds really boring and to be honest, everyone else on the shoot (who were, and probably still are, a lot cooler then me) also thought the trip a major drag, but honestly, it wasn’t. I loved seeing the neat filing cabinets at Fendi full of clasps and a million different hooks and recognising different details from past collectionand the huge warehouse at Hermes with roles and roles of leather in every colour and variation possible. I think its the neatness and order, stripping fashion back to a simple trade. How cool is this shelf at our factory in Spain? Its endless rows and rows of heel lasts, in-case you can’t quite see. Ahhh! The order, the repetition! Love it! Soooo many different heel optionsAlso pictured are two of our designers, Merloes central and Laura (right). (for the record – they do not like factory’s...)
