How fitting to start this blog on the big man's birthday! Happy Birthday Manolo!
Manolo Blahniks styles seemed to have gone slightly out of fashion of late, you hardly ever see Blahniks on the fashion pages now and I think its a real shame. Manolo Blahnik will always be known as one of the best shoe designers in the world, even before his association with Sex and the City took his brand to the next level, but Blahniks uncomprimising attitude conflicts with the ongoing trend for skys-the-limit platforms and a kind of ugly beautiful aesthetic (of which I most definitely approve) In fact up until a year ago, Blahnik would never design a shoe over 5 inches, although, as reported in fashionologie last year, he has swayed in that respect to public demand and upped the maximum to 6 inches.
The boutique loves and respects Manolo - Bianca wore them to make her famous Studio 54 entrance on a white horse for gods sake! that pop culture refrence alone means we now declare the 27th a national shoe day in his honour!
